Problem dogs a speciality

Africandawns specialises in training all breeds of dogs and their associated problems.  We have many years experience and have developed different training courses tailored to suit most individual’s needs to help solve their problems.

Africandawns is located at ‘The Old Whistling Pig’ on the edge of the fens where we offer excellent residential training, in our well run, fully licensed accommodation.  We have several different courses to suit individual dogs but from experience have found the one month basic obedience course to be the most popular and successful.  Brief syllabus is:

·   Walking to heel both on and off the lead

·   Sitting, staying and waiting

·   Coming when called

·   Showing control in the presence of other animals, dogs and people

We also hold puppy training, which includes full house training. This would involve the dog sleeping in the house and therefore we do advise early booking for this style of training as we limit the numbers to achieve the best possible results.

From spring to late autumn we hold a number of weekly classes, starting with puppy socialising and basic obedience. There is normally a six week course teaching basic obedience along with owners and dogs, You will be working outside under normal conditions, such as you might meet on a regular walk, meeting other dogs, people and various other animals. The course includes, not pulling on the lead, recall, sit, stay and emphasis is put on good control at all times.

Private/individual lessons, one to one, are available with you and your dog. We tailor these to suit your needs.

Sorry, but we are unable to hold classes or private lessons at weekends, as this time is kept for the dogs that are staying with us for residential training, and for owners of these dogs to come and see and work.

RESIDENTIAL TRAINING -
Part of the training involves each dog staying with us, coming into the house on a regular basis, to help bonding with the trainer, and to keep up the good behaviour where ever he or she may be.

Our kennels and facilities are licensed by the local council to ensure that we provide the very best for your pet whilst they are staying with us. Runs are covered, kennels are heated, and we cater for all diet requirements. We have large exercise paddocks and make sure that your dogs are well exercised, in body and in mind while with us.

Although we have the set courses, we do realise that each dog is an individual and we adjust the training to suit both the owner and the dog.

For those of you who do not wish your dog be away we hold group classes and ‘one to one’ lessons.
Please contact me for more information.

Our rabbit pens and
other training facilities are also available for hire, by dog clubs or individuals.

Our training centre is well situated in five acres of land, split into different training areas including a well stocked rabbit and bird pen and a lake. We also go out into the open fens and into surrounding villages and towns, to teach the dog good behaviour in all situations. We only use kind reward based training with positive reinforcements.

We are always willing to show people our facilities and very much welcome visitors. Being within easy travelling distance of both London and the Midlands, we are easily accessible, as we are close to the A1, the M11 and the A14.
